Own satisfaction

I've Watched the Latest Movie;
A film based on the life of Yip Man

that stars Donnie Yen as the martial artist.
Photobucket
Before that was, a romantic-fantasy film; Twilight.

I love the Baseball game in the movie.

Damn!
We're ushering the year 2009 soon,
Xmas and new year is just around the corner,
Chinese new year is just way too fast,
My term break last only a month plus...

Photobucket

I've been working for almost half a month at Asia-city (Splash). Check this -"Webby" for more info. All thanks to Ashley for the recommend. Its actually a good experience for me..

Photobucket

Workin closely with the creative director, photographers and designers. Basically, having a chance to see a studio shoot for magazine covers. Learning and improving my adobe knowledge. As well as the knowledge of the printers.

Photobucket

Well at least I'm exposed to their MAC PC which is kinda "slow" for me till now.. and its adobe CS. (version1) Gosh!.. No MSN, even worst! Trying my very best to learn as much as I can. Got involved with a few projects right after a few days of orientation. Salary wise isn't that much as compared to "Wishbone.D.C" I've worked last summer. Coz this winter is an 'internship'.

P.S: The snowman you guys see here(above) that's actually a modified snowman from my coffee club EDM project.

So what's an EDM?
Electronic Direct Marketing, When you receive mails from retails or restaurants. Eg: Special offers or new stocks, etc...
Still blur? Google it!

woodblock to mock rock

神奈川沖浪裏

Photobucket

Coloured drawings like the ones Miyazaki brings to life have long been a strength of Japanese culture. Great Wave off Kanagawa, a spectacular woodblock print by the 19th century Edo artist Hokusai, is one of the world's most instantly recognisable world of art. Part of his series 36 Views of Mount Fuji (here), it inspired another Edo artist, Hiroshige, to do a similarly stunning set of scenes along the Tokaido highway, from Edo to Kyoto.

The woodblock artists were chroniclers as well as creators, and the same can be said for photographer Nobuyoshi Araki, a major figure on the city's art scene today. Born in 1940, he has shot cityscapes and street life for decades, in addition to his more refined floral images and controversial erotic fantasies.

Besides, that also inspired a lot of artists around the globe. Take for instant, Kozy and Dan.

Title: Uprisings
Media:
mixed media
What: We were honored to be asked to do the cover and be featured in issue 28 of Giant Robot Magazine. We only had a few days to take the piece from concept to completion, and still ended up being one of our best. It is an homage of sorts to Hokusai with our own furry twist.

I've heard the dee jays says "Woo hooo its the long weekends!" I've heard my friends says "what's your programme this coming long weekends?" I've heard from somewhere that says "long weekends!"

And I didn't know what happening.! So I messaged my bestie. Mr. Louis LOH
ME: Eh bro, this week, there's long weekends?
Jun: yeah. public holidays.
ME: oh. Why huh?
Jun: OH my God.. Its Haji.
ME: OH oh~~! *nice~

Photobucket
I'm back to my slackest weeks ever. My winter break that's of course my term break started not long ago. My dear bro. Jun was damn sick to go Sentosa with me so caught up 5 movies in a row during this long weekends, since the weather isn't been so good. While enjoying the cold cold weather, sitting in front of my desktop with my blankets covered for warmth, blast my speakers and start rollin' my movies..

The best among the 5, I've watched so far:
The children of Huang Shi.

Photobucket

Here's a little showcase of this semester's work. Its already the final year and I'm having dilemma whether to continue for a degree.. Anyways.. here's a little stun I've done for this semester's portfolio.
The brief says: Portfolio- layout, print and file it nicely in a clear A3 folder. Its super duper boring! ITS TIME TO BREAK THE RULES!
So I came up with a "run-away" concept where u can see parcels and passport. And my portfolio is even smaller then an A4 size paper. 20 x 17cm.
Basically "An escaped artist" this time.
Photobucket
Photobucket

This resembles the pizza hut box isn't it? Yea~. Took an empty box from em' and modified its measurements to fit all my stuffs in. The making of the box from scratch, took me 12 hours, with 3 hours respectively before I decided on the final box to be used. Printed stickers and paste em on the box itself to have the 'parcel' feel.

Photobucket

Contents: Passport size book, boarding pass, 1 DVD content, 3 x original adverts for New moon, A1 illustration (packaged), 30 x postcards (A6), 3 x 6R photographs for photography, Flux magazine (30 x 27cm) and a portfolio (17 x 20cm).

Photobucket
Photobucket
The passport (modified cover page) + boarding pass and a DVD contents of all my working files for this semester.

GRAPHIC
30 x postcards size:A6
theme: WHITE SPACE

Walking down familiar streets feeling loneliness and wary. Each individual showing its own reflections on their own white space.

ILLUSTRATIONS
A1 size illustrations (theme: THINGS I LOVE)
Its all about the relationship between the canvas and the user. It illustrates according to the individual. In this case, ME!

Photobucket
Original size; A1 is too huge and bulky to bring it to school again, so I went Nafa, all thanks to Alex lum, he helped me get the permission of his school library's A3 scanner to scan my A1 art-piece. Which then, printed out in A2, folded nicely and packaged it into a nice envelope, inspired by "don't panic" envelope where you can find along the streets of orchard rd and some retails. So it acts like a poster in it instead.

Photobucket

The front image looks familiar? yea~ it's the previous main picture for my blog! The whole image means:

Undergoing halluciation WITHIN your imagination
Don't underestimate the weak, always expect the unexpected

ADVERTS
new moon essence of chicken
The design idea came from using Brands Chicken Essence as a brain fuel. It could be used by people of all ages and professions as depicted by the carious table items.

Photobucket

INTEGRATED
magazine design (brand: FLUX)
my theme: We Love typo+graphics / miscellaneous issue.
Mainly based on typography and illustrations and the revolution of both. Its a 42 page magazine designed by myself with lots of references around the globe.

The logo is based on the magazine title; FLUX, The curves represent the flow of creative ideas. The color range used are namely Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black, collectively known as CMYK, which is what comprises printing colours used.

Thanks Kaedon for the awesome post for my camera. My favourite item in my portfolio would be the envelope with my printed A2 illustration in it. Well at least to me its unique in its way. And that marked the end of semester 1.
